Recognized as “The Best Fine-Dining Restaurant for Wine Lovers in 2023” or (in other words) the best Baltic wine list of our last year’s competition, Barents has had no reason to slow down since. It’s still a beacon when it comes to matching fine wines to fine food not just in Latvia, but Baltics for sure – and we’re delighted to see how their wine talents further bloom at their retail & wholesale operations Barents Wine Collectors (soon at their new home on Elisabeth street?) and the super-cool Barents seefood bar right next to the restaurant.

Chef Dzintars Kristovskis’s amazing cooking is skilfully paired with the head somm Nikita Zaicenkovs’s (and the World Champ Raimonds Tomsons & the smashing influencer Agnese Gintere in background) wine selections that excel in cult growers and domaines from all the most desired regions, but especially Champagne, Burgundy, Austria, Germany. As we always say, buckle up, folks – ‘cause this is not just one of Riga or Baltics’ premier wine destinations, it’s one of Europe’s best.

Barent’s suggestion: 2021 Bodegas Frontonio "Psicodelico";

Our choice: Anything from Bénédicte & Stéphane Tissot, but if you’re brave enough – go for their Vin Jaune "Les Bruyères" in Magnum (how cool is that – a Vin Jaune in Magnum?!) with Dzintars Kristovskis’s amazing Dover Sole for two!
